Phytolacca americana Silberstein

Phytolacca americana 'Silberstein' Perennial Height:6' Light: Full Sun-Part Shade Purple Berries in the Fall Zone 5
It's the American pokeweed, dressed to kill, with creamy leaves speckled and flecked in green, in delightful contrast to the screaming red-purple stems. We are firmly of the opinion that there are many inferior variegated plants in the market today, but this is not one of them. The foliage is grand, and holds up beautifully even in the sun, as long as it's well-watered. A real show-stopper. Comes true from seed, so you can improve the local stock of this native species. Be warned that this variety takes several years to attain mature size, as they are low on chlorophyll and don't bulk up as fast as the unimproved species.Dies back to the ground every winter $5 per pot |
